Welcome to GCM Commerce
PG department Commerce is functioning in the college since its very inception in the year 1972. The department started its functioning in the college offering Pre Degree course. The B.Com programme was started by the department in the year 1973 and the M.Com programme in the year 2005. The department offers B.Com and M.Com programmes in finance stream. The department is well equipped with audio visual aids, backed up with good faculty input. The departmental is instrumental in conducting seminars and workshops in relevant topics every year. Eight permanent faculty appointed by Department of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Kerala are serving the department. The students strength of the department comprises 197 undergraduate students and 55 postgraduate student. The department has produced many Rank holders in both UG and PG level. Department has a very good track record in students qualifying UGC NET/ JRF examination.

Department shall play a pivotal role in educating, training and motivating youth to build a competent human resource, desirable in the world of Commerce.
MISSION
1. To inculcate Entrepreneurial and Managerial skills to excel in Business ,Industry and Service sector.
2. To develop virtues of Morality, Human value, Business Ethics and Social responsibility in serving the commercial needs of the society.
B.Com
B.Com programme was started in the college in the year 1973. The duration of the B.Com programme of study is three academic years with six semesters. Total number of courses (other than audit courses) for the whole B.Com Programme is 31. It is divided in to courses namely: Common courses, Core courses, Complementary courses and Open courses. During the course of study every B.Com student shall undergo 10 Common courses, 4 Complementary courses, 16 Core courses and 1 Open course. A student is required to acquire a minimum of 140 credits for the completion of the B.Com programme, of which 120 credits are to be acquired from class room study and shall only be counted for SGPA and CGPA. Remaining 20 credits are to be acquired from audit courses and social work which shall not be counted for SGPA and CGPA. Out of the 120 credits, 38 credits shall be from common courses, 63 credits for core courses, 16 credits for complementary courses, 2 credits for project/corresponding paper and 3 credits for the open course. Core courses in the area of specialization for the programme are Finance.
M.Com
M.Com programme was started in the college in the year 2005. The duration of the M.Com programme of study is two academic years with four semesters. Total number of courses (other than audit courses) for the whole M.Com Programme is 25. Specialisation Elective of the programme is Finance. Total credit for the programme shall be 80 (eighty), of which 60 credits are for core courses, 16 credits for elective courses and 4 credits for audit corses. Audit courses are mandatory for pass and completion of Programme. The credits will not be counted for evaluating the overall SGPA & CGPA.
